ABOUT THE WINE
Vega Caledonia is part of the respected Bodegas Najerilla, founded in 1975 and located in the Bajo Najerilla Valley of Rioja Alta, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. With vineyards over 50 years old, the estate benefits from high-altitude terroir, low yields, and three generations of dedicated winemaking. Vega Caledonia wines are known for their authentic Rioja character, balancing tradition with purity of fruit and oak ageing.
The 2016 Crianza is a classic expression of Tempranillo, combining elegance, richness, and age-worthy finesse.
TASTING NOTES
Aged 12 months in French and American oak, followed by a year in bottle, this Rioja Crianza reveals expressive notes of dark cherry, ripe berries, and a touch of toasted oak. On the palate, it is rounded and full-bodied, with smooth tannins and a long, satisfying finish. Ruby red in colour, it offers a balanced structure with freshness and depth — a superb example of traditional Rioja winemaking.
FOOD PAIRING
Perfect with pork dishes, including roast pork loin or Iberico chops. Also delicious with classic paella, stuffed peppers, or grilled aubergine with a touch of spice.
