ABOUT THE WINE
Château de Chamirey is a prestigious 95-hectare estate in the Mercurey appellation of Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, with 37 hectares under vine across some of the region’s finest terroirs. The château, built in the early 18th century, has been under the stewardship of the Devillard family since 1934, when it became one of the first producers in Mercurey to bottle estate wines. Today, the estate remains a benchmark for white Burgundy that balances tradition with refinement.
TASTING NOTES
This 2020 Mercurey Blanc opens with expressive aromas of peach, white flowers, and subtle creamy oak. The palate is bright and focused, showcasing notes of stone fruit, citrus, and a delicate floral lift, all carried by refreshing acidity and a touch of wood-spice on the finish.
FOOD PAIRING
An excellent match for grilled fish, shellfish, or light poultry dishes. Also pairs beautifully with creamy risottos or goat cheese.
FRIARWOOD SAYS
Sourced from six distinct vineyard plots, this wine was aged for 11 months in lightly toasted French oak (15% new). A vibrant, precise expression of Burgundian Chardonnay with finesse and balance.
