ABOUT THE WINE
The legendary Château Talbot is named after Connétable John Talbot, a British soldier who perished in the Battle of Castillon in 1453. This esteemed estate in the Médoc honours its historical roots while consistently delivering exceptional wines. Owned by the Cordier family since 1917, Château Talbot has benefited from significant investments aimed at elevating its quality to remarkable levels. With 102 hectares of vineyards, it is one of the largest and most respected estates in the Médoc. The wines of Château Talbot are matured for 15 months in French oak barrels, with 50–60% being new oak, a process that adds depth and complexity to their character.

TASTING NOTES
The 2010 Château Talbot is a classic Saint-Julien, medium-bodied and showcasing youthful energy with excellent ageing potential. It opens with aromas of blackberry, woodsmoke, and a touch of pencil lead, underpinned by a fresh, airy profile. On the palate, gritty yet refined tannins frame flavours of dark fruit, slate, and a hint of spice. This vintage offers a harmonious balance of structure and freshness, promising decades of evolution while already drinking beautifully.

FOOD PAIRING
The robust character of this wine makes it a natural match for lamb roasts, beef stews, and game meats. Its earthy notes pair perfectly with wild mushroom risotto or cured meats, while hard cheeses like aged Comté or Manchego enhance its savoury complexity.

FRIARWOOD SAYS
The 2010 Château Talbot is a fabulous vintage, offering elegance and refinement with an enduring potential to age gracefully. It is drinking well now for those who appreciate youthful vibrancy, but it will continue to mature and mellow beautifully until at least 2045. A must-have for collectors and Bordeaux enthusiasts alike.
