ABOUT THE WINE
Château Lascombes, a distinguished 2ème Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, carries centuries of winemaking legacy dating back to its namesake, Chevalier de Lascombes, born in 1625. With pivotal transformations under Jean-Francois Lascombes in the 18th century and Alexis Lichine in the mid-20th century, this estate has continually evolved, now thriving under Colony Capital since 2001. Its 2015 vintage epitomizes the estate’s mastery of tradition and innovation, showcasing a balanced blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, nurtured on Margaux’s renowned gravel soils.
TASTING NOTES
The 2015 Château Lascombes is a rich, polished wine, boasting aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and mocha, underscored by notes of cedar, tobacco, and sweet spice. The palate is luxurious yet structured, with velvety tannins enveloping flavours of dark plum, blueberry, and hints of earthy forest floor. Oak aging contributes nuances of vanilla and roasted coffee, leading to a long, elegant finish with a lingering touch of minerality.
FOOD PAIRING
An ideal companion to venison with a berry reduction, slow-braised short ribs, or creamy beef stroganoff. It also pairs wonderfully with aged hard cheeses such as Comté, Gruyère, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
